New Beatles Single?

Hi, back from a short hiatus. Vacation. Beach. Sunburn. Yuck.

New rumors are swirling around a new Beatles single stemming from the 1995 Threetles reunion that gave us “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love.” According to BeatlesNews.com, Paul McCartney has supposedly finished work on the John Lennon demo “Now and Then,” which was to be the third single from the Beatles Anthology. The three gave up on it at the time, but an unnamed source says “Paul wants it out badly.”

This would be very cool news indeed – a nice epitaph to the Beatles career. It’s not every day you get to hear a new Beatles single, and given the fact that two of the Fab Four are now dead, the odds are indeed long. There has always been talk of Julian replacing John, or Dhani Harrison replacing George, but that’s mostly wishful thinking among fans.

Granted, this is just a rumor, but it would be just like Paul and Ringo to create a big buzz right before the release of Beatles:Rock Band and their remastered box sets, due Sept. 9.

To get a sense of what the new single might sound like, check out the YouTube video below in which a very talented fan has remixed the Lennon demo himself. Sounds Beatle-y!
